Below you will find a variety of online training modules with a focus on mental health if you want to expand your knowledge and understanding.

    • In just 90 minutes online, LivingWorks Start trains participants to recognize when someone may be thinking about suicide and how to connect them to help and support. LivingWorks Start was developed with input from experts in suicide prevention, education, psychology, public health, social work, faith communities and the military.

    • This program employs a comprehensive 4-step model to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and respond to signs of suicide.

    • LivingWorks safeTALK is a four-hour training that equips people to be more alert to someone thinking of suicide and better able to connect them with further help. Using a simple yet effective model, LivingWorks safeTALK empowers everyone to make a difference.

    • SafeTALK prepares anyone regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper.

    • safeTALK-trained helpers can recognize signs of suicide ideation and take action by connecting them with life-saving intervention resources.

    • LivingWorks ASIST is a two-day in-person workshop that will increase your willingness, confidence, and capacity to provide suicide first aid.

    • At a LivingWorks ASIST workshop, you’ll learn how to recognize when someone may be thinking about suicide, and how to provide a skilled intervention and develop a safety plan with the person to connect them to further support.

    • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), OpeningMinds.org/training/MHFA, is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as physical first aid is administered to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is given until appropriate treatment is found or until the crisis is resolved.

    • The MHFA Canada program aims to improve mental health literacy, and provide the skills and knowledge to help people better manage potential or developing mental health problems in themselves, a family member, a friend or a colleague.

    • This course emphasizes self-care and resilience to help individuals cope with stress and trauma. It includes both self-paced online modules and in-person training options, making it accessible for diverse needs, including workplace and community settings.     • Recovery Colleges offer free mental health and wellness courses focused on personal recovery and skill-building. These are available in several provinces and include virtual and in-person classes on topics like mindfulness, stress management, and emotional health.

  • CMHA National offers Psychological Health and Safety Professional Certificate and Psychological Health and Safety: The Essentials. The Essentials training provides introductory information on psychological health and safety (PHS) and core elements of the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (the National Standard). The Psychological Health and Safety Professional Certificate is a much more in-depth look into psychological health and safety, and is designed for individuals who are working to develop a psychological health and safety management system in alignment with the National Standard.

  • CMHA National offers a team of in-house Workplace Mental Health Specialists who will work with you to create customized training solutions tailored to your business, no matter its size.

  • THE TAKEAWAYS TOOLKIT PROJECT

    The Canadian Mental Health Association and the Mental Health Commission of Canada collaborated to create the Takeaways Toolkit. The toolkit was informed by the MHCC’s 2018 Case Study Research Project (CSRP) on how 40 workplaces have implemented the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. Offering best practices and activities, The Takeaways Toolkit is meant to guide other workplaces to help put the Standard into practice.

  • The Working Mind (TWM) is an evidence-based training program developed to initiate a shift in how you think, act, and feel about mental health. This foundational program is designed to provide practical knowledge and skills to reduce stigma.
